Richard Graziano has 26 years of extensive knowledge in media. He is known for his inspiration and drive for increasing performance within a wide range of media platforms, including radio, broadcast television, print, magazine, direct mail, mobile, video, digital solutions and social from multiple major markets: Boston, Hartford -New Haven, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Atlanta. An employee of Tribune Media for 17 years, Graziano is uniquely qualified as a seasoned transformational leader and operator.

 

As the President and General Manager of WPIX-TV he was relentlessly focused on the transformation of Tribune’s #1 market flagship station. He recruited an all-new, all-star leadership team. He lead an audience and brand development research project with Norm Hecht and Nucleus Media. He implemented a digital dash transformation inspired  by the NY Times playbook, culminating in an extraordinary increase in audience over 2 years. Graziano lead the way to build a cutting edge broadcast studio in Brooklyn located within the Barclays Center, negotiated a favorable multi-year NY Mets deal, and brought the Yankees back to WPIX with an innovative multi-year broadcast partnership with YES. WPIX increased share and ratings of news audience in all newscasts for many months, and increased share and revenue within New York.

 

Prior to WPIX, Graziano was Publisher, President & CEO of the Hartford Courant and WTIC-TV /FOX CT and WCCT-TV. In 2009, Graziano assumed responsibility of the newspaper operations and created “CT1Media”, a multiplatform news gathering organization unlike any other in the country including print, magazine, direct mail, broadcast, digital, mobile, data, commerce, digital solutions, events and social. This unique opportunity where he orchestrated the merging of print, broadcast and digital, clearly illustrated the enormous power and potential of engaging content on multiple platforms.

Under his leadership, the first fully integrated cross media sales team was rolled out and local revenue and profitability increased as a result of this innovative new integrated media model.

 

From June 2008 through March of 2010, Graziano was Senior Vice President of Tribune Broadcasting, overseeing Hartford, Philadelphia and Washington Broadcast properties: WTIC, WTXX, WPHL, and WBDC. He was influential in creating strategic partnerships, and also helped bring the Phillies to WPHL and the Nationals to WBDC.

 

Throughout his career Graziano has made a commitment to serving the community. He has supported Gun Violence Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, Multiple Myeloma Research, The US Veterans’ Education Challenge, the “Fuel My School” educational program, UCP, NAACP, NYC Justice League and the National Action Network, all in NY. He has spearheaded and created programming for some of the markets most treasured events including: The NY Veteran’s day parade, Broadway and Brooklyn Boxing, Backstage on Broadway, the Manchester Road Race, Hartford and New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parades and the Hartford Marathon. Graziano combined the power of broadcast, print and digital with the live political US Senate debates broadcast on FOX CT and courant.com. He also spearheaded the Battered Lives Series, focusing on domestic violence in Connecticut on a multiplatform level.

 

He sits on the Zazoom Media Advisory Board and Burst.com Advisory Board. Past board work includes  Barclays Center Advisory Board, NY State Broadcaster’s Board, Interval House, Men Make a Difference – Anti Domestic Violence, Camp Courant, and the President of the Connecticut Daily Newspaper Association. He was a speaker and a panelist at Geno Auriemms’s annual conference on leadership, he was named to Hartford Magazine’s “50 Most Influential” list and has received numerous awards from organizations such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Camp Courant and Interval House for his dedication to helping children and families in the region.

 

Graziano went to Hartford in 2005 as Vice President and General Manager of the two Hartford market TV stations, WTIC and WTXX-TV.  Prior to Hartford, Graziano served as General Sales Manager at the Tribune owned and operated WLVI-TV 56 in his hometown of Boston for four years from 2001 to 2005. While at WLVI, he also served as local sales manager and national sales manager.

 

Graziano was part of the FOX family before joining Tribune. He served as national sales manager at FOX 5 in Atlanta and Regional Sales at FOX 25 in Boston – both FOX owned and operated stations. He started his media career in radio at KISS 108 and JAM’N 94.5 as an account executive.

 

Born and raised in Boston, Graziano is a “Double Eagle” attending Boston College, Carroll School of Management and Boston College High School.
